A councilmember who I have worked with for a number of years has recently been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. She is a tough cookie - someone who is not afraid to tell you what she thinks. So, to see someone who always appears strong and together go public with a disease that affects one in eight women, my first thought was of course her prognosis....but then, the wheels started turning and I thought this could be a good opportunity to educate viewers about breast cancer and what the county has to offer through her journey. I approached her staff first - they would be the best place to start. With some trepidation they agreed to let me talk her about putting together a series of stories about her diagnosis, treatment and the emotions that go along with having cancer.
