Yes there were - 944 of them - breaking a Guiness World Book Record for the most ukuleles in one place. Mike and I headed down to Strathmore Music Center for this year's Ukulele festival, and I must say it was a blast. We saw ukuleles of all shapes, sizes, ages and colors, but the most interesting part of the evening was the owners of those instruments. Everything from a 94 year old who had been playing since college and a 2 year old who strummed along with his tiny red ukulele. The group that came together for this event seemed to be on a different plane of happiness if that makes sense...and I definitely was right there with them. I know what I want for my birthday now.
