Today I was grateful for so many things. I had an assignment for a press event where a group of state and local officials dedicated the first 'Miracle Field' in Montgomery County. The specially designed field will allow children and young adults with mental and/or physical disabilities to enjoy the opportunity to play baseball - safely. The owners of the Washington Nationals put up half of the money for the project and the rest came from the county and other private donors.
The greatest part of the day was getting to watch these kids play baseball with their 'buddies' - other kids assigned to give them a hand at hitting, running the bases or catching the ball.
Their faces shined with delight when their names were called to step up to the plate. You couldn't help but be thrilled for each and every one of those kids there today who had the chance to be a part of the day which even included rubbing shoulders with some of the better know Washington Nationals players.
There really aren't any words I need to say to explain exactly what I was grateful for today, but I do know I was where I was supposed to be...for that I am truly blessed.
