Town Hall Meeting

Last night we held one of our neighborhood Town Meetings in Bethesda. The council travels around to different parts of the county throughout the year and part of their outreach and effort to be more transparent. These meetings are not the favorite part of my job...most times, the residents who come are mad about something, and many times they don't get to ask their question because we run out of time before we can get to everyone. So, when the meeting is over, I sometimes get mobbed by folks complaining to me that I never called on them. However, last night's meeting was quite pleasant. Despite the fact that the county is facing a 300 million dollar budget deficit folks were relatively calm and thoughtful in their questioning. I can't take credit for the cool panoramic picture; it was taken by one of my colleagues before the crowd arrived.
